About a month ago I received an e-mail from one of my teachers regarding an amazing opportunity to intern for the well known modelling agency, Ford Models. I immediately fixed up resume and sent it in, and a week later I was heading to the agency for an interview. I think you know where this story is going, and if you guessed that I got the internship than you’re right!
I have been interning there for three weeks now, one day a week. The office is open concept, so everybody is sitting together, and I love it. Everyone who works there is really nice and has a great sense of humour. I do a lot of organizing for them, receptionist work, and scanning and uploading pictures. I’m really enjoying it so far! It’s interesting to see that side of the industry and how it works, because I never really knew. Not to mention, I get to look at gorgeous people all day long. Can’t complain about that.
H&M is on a roll this year with all of their designer collaborations. Just this week they released news of their next collaboration, with Marni, an Italian brand designed by Consuelo Castiglioni. Unlike the Versace collaboration, this one will be made up of both’s womenswear and menswear, as well as shoes, jewelry, and other accessories. H&M seems to be a big fan of prints and bold colours, which we became aware of with the Versace for H&M collection, making this Marni collaboration a perfect fit for the company.
Consuelo (above) on the up and coming collection, “I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements.”
The women’s line will be very bright and bold, and the men’s line will be a little more subtle. For men, the most vivid prints will be accents on the clothing.
This collection will hit stores on March 8 2012. In the meantime, here is a sneak peek at what’s to come.
[Side note: her bracelet is so sick. Hopefully something similiar will be available in her collection for H&M]
This week is your last chance to get reduced Line knitwear at City Downtown. By Friday at 1pm, City Downtown will officially be closed until next semester when the next group of students re-open it. All week there will be major sales in the store - Tuesday will be 25% off all merchandise, and Wednesday to Friday will be 50% off all merchandise. There are still six or seven Line sweaters available, all under $75! These sweaters usually sell for a couple of hundred dollars at Holts or Roots, so this is a really great deal. Above I am wearing my favourite sweater from the collection. They are so warm, and so comfortable! I suggest you come in and check them out before the end of the week! Hopefully see you there xo
I fell in love with these beauties while in Mendocino the other day. Ever since I came across them I have been thinking about them. I find that I have been doing that a lot lately with items from Mendocino. They had the most gorgeous circle scarf in there last week, and I waited a couple of days to buy it, which clearly was a huge mistake as they were sold out when I went back. So sad. If I really want these shorts I should probably go snatch them up asap. Only $75!
Such a good corner of goodies in the store. Those leather shorts are awesome, and that long sleeve black body suit beside them is pretty rad too. Not to mention the jacket and bag hanging above all of this? Ahh I want it all. If I had endless amounts of money to spend on clothes I would buy this whole store.
The famous Man Repeller, Leandra Medine, has collaborated with Six London to create a pair of spiked heels that are out of this world fierce. These ankles booties are as Leandra says, “business in the front, and party in the back”. They are navy blue suede, with the heel and toe finished with burgundy suede. All along the back of the heel are golden spikes, and they do up with a side zipper. The Man Repeller also comments on the booties saying they are “a taste of timeless Chanel, coloured by Celine, combined with the kiss of Stevie Nicks”. Well put.
The bad news about these fabulous heels is that there were only 20 made, and they come at a very steep price. You can purchase the booties here for 387 pounds.
On December 5th 2011, Valentino and his long time partner, Giancarlo Giammetti, are unveiling an online virtual museum that will display the designer’s masterpieces from the past 50 years. This museum will include 5,000 images, from illustrations to photographs to sketches, as well as 95 fashion show videos, and numerous editorials and advertising campaigns. It will also include a look back at epic events that have been held by the infamous Italian fashion house.
It is going to be a work of art.
The virtual museum will be available to download as a desktop application, and you can bet that I am going to download it the second it becomes available. Nothing this big has ever been done before in the online fashion world (with the exception of Salavatore Ferragamo’s online museum in 2009), and I truly believe that it will be nothing short of amazing.
If this museum were real it would cover over 100,000 square feet. The looks will be grouped into occasions, and will feature over 300 dresses. Even though it is an online museum, it is set up to resemble a real life one and will have different rooms, wings, and galleries to explore. Once you download the application on your desktop, you will be able to create your own unique route through the museum.
Omg, omg. This is unreal news. Until right now I had no idea that Karl Lagerfeld was creating a beauty collection for Sephora. Now that I know I am going to do everything in my power to get my hands on it. I know it’s only available in Singapore and Europe but there has to be someway to get it. I would be more than happy if I could get a hold of the nail polish. eBay here I come!!
Yes, it’s true, Karl Lagerfeld has wowed us again, but this time with his beauty line for Sephora. Unfortunately, it is only being sold in Europe and Singapore, forcing us to admire it online, seeing as it’s about the closest we’ll get. His eyeshadow palette features the colours in the shape of…
Check out these awesome pieces of jewelry. A very talented girl in the jewelry course at George Brown College makes these necklaces, rings, and earrings out of old bullet casings. I think they could be such a cool addition to any outfit. Each piece costs anywhere between $100 and $200!
I know I don’t have too many boy followers, and I hardly ever comment on men’s fashion (my apologies, I love it all, but it’s a lot to keep up with both men’s and women’s), but I felt as though I had to share this. Yesterday afternoon I did some shopping before work, and went into one of my favourite stores on Queen West, Lavish and Squalor, and was taken aback by what I found. I had always known that the store carried tonnes of great men’s clothes, but what I was pleasantly surprised about was their boot collection. There were shelves upon shelves of men’s boots that were AMAZING. So amazing that I was getting jealous I couldn’t wear them myself. If you’re the type of guy to wear boots and pull off that type of men’s fashion, please go to Lavish and Squalor - 253 Queen Street West, Toronto. Amazing boots at a reasonable price.
After doing some online ‘window shopping’ on Free People, I had to share with you a few of my favourite winter pieces (key word: few. I am in love with 98% of their clothing). First off, before I show you anything we need to talk about how cute and cozy their winter Snow Angel collection looks! Going through the look book made me made to curl up in front of a fire with some hot chocolate. This by no way means that I want the temperature to drop and there to be snow on the ground. Winter is definitely not one of my favourite seasons, but if I’m going to have to put up with it, might as well do it with some awesome sweaters and cardigans.
Multi Stripe Pullover. Available in Buttercream (above), Deep Ocean, and Nordic Red $131.15. I think this sweater is fantastic. It looks amazing over that dress, which is good for the holiday season as you can pull off being dressed up, while being warm and comfortable at the same time.
Marler Yarn Pullover. Available in Mocha (above), Golden Marl, and Ice Combo $90.17. Love, love, LOVE the colour of this one. Not to mention, it looks awesome paired with that hat and necklace. The great thing about plain knit pullovers like this one is that they can be paired with almost anything, and work well with a bunch of accessories.
Open Back Tunic. Available in Natural (above), and grey $131.15. Simply amazing. How did Free People manage to pull off a big knitted pullover that looks sexy? I am definitely not complaining, I think this is such an accomplishment. It’s funny because one of the first pictures I ever reblogged was of a girl wearing this sweater. I loved it as soon as I saw the picture, but until now I had no idea where the sweater was from. Funny how that happens.
I couldn’t help myself.. I had to throw in these two pieces. I know they aren’t sweaters or cardigans, but I mean, look at them, they’re both so hot! The dress on the left is Free People’s Le Deux Velvet Tunic that is available in Midnight (above), or Silver for $131.15. It’s the perfect dress for any holiday party.
The to-die-for romper on the right is their Cashmere Romper that is available in Black (above), or Tea, for $110.66. I know that may seem like a lot for a romper, but it’s cashmere, and look at it. So totally worth the high price.
There you have it, a few of my favourite pieces from Free People right now. Pleaaaaase, do yourselves a favour and go take a gander at their collections. You won’t be mad you did.
Yet again we have another amazing collaboration with a talented designer and Aldo. The mexican born designer, Christian Cota, designed four hiking inspired boots called “Hiker-Lux” that are perfect for this winter season. The boots first appeared in February for Cota’s Fall 2011 show, and the collection became available at Aldo stores at the beginning of October. There are two styles in the collection, one a taller combat style boot that is lined to keep your feet warm in the cold weather, and the other a shorter boot with pony hair and leather straps complete with buckles.
I have made yet another online purchase, and bought another bracelet, surprise surprise. I came across HRH Collection thanks to a friend I go to school with. She brought the collection to my attention and I have lusted over it since. This particular bracelet is the Ombre bracelet, and is only $35! When I first started checking out the products almost everything was out of stock, but today all products became available again! My sister and I made sure we each got a ombre bracelet before they were all gone again. Can’t wait for it to get here! I am now waiting for three different orders to come in the mail. Hurry, hurry, hurry!
While doing my daily Tumblr lurk the other day I came across a picture of a sick DJ turntable ring, exactly like this:
None of the blogs that had posted or reposted this picture gave an explanation as to where it was from or how you could go about getting it, so I went on a little hunt. For the first couple of days I could only find knock-offs of this ring on eBay that weren’t nearly as cool. I had decided this wasn’t something I was going to settle on, and if I couldn’t find this exact ring than I wasn’t going to get one at all. I almost gave up on my search this weekend, but decided to give it one more shot today. Thank god I did, because I found it!! Etsy has this DayDefyProject DJ turntable ring for only $45 US! My work here is done.
Shortly after Kate Moss’ wedding, model scouts started hounding her younger, 13 year old sister. It is quite obvious why, as Lottie Moss is absolutely stunning! No modelling agency had the privilege of signing Lottie on as her Mother was very firm in stating that she was too young, and would make a decision about modelling when she was older.
It seems as though the tables have slightly turned as images shot by photographer Andrea Carter Bowman appeared on Fashionising.com. All of the photos are done in black and white, and look amazing. I’m guessing this photo shoot will result in many more scouts asking her to sign on with their agency. Although she may be young still, that gorgeous face of hers could make her lots of money!
Today I am starting a new internship, which I’m so excited for! The outfit I chose to wear is posted below. I didn’t want to overdress nor did I want to be underdressed. The top is from City Downtown, pants are BDG and the shoes are from Aldo.
